State of the art repairs of old wooden windows in a listed property in Ickleton, Cambridge
This project in Ickleton, Cambridgeshire in 2013 is the perfect example of the huge transformation that can take place when woodwork is correctly repaired and spray painted. The house had exterior woodwork that was painted many times, was hiding many areas of rot and looked unsightly.
We advised our client that this job would need substantial repair work including many new window sills, the removal of rotten sections and refilling with Accoya and Tricoya wood and resinous fillers. The addition of a wood hardener ensured that the remaining wood would last much longer. All current paint was sanded back and we had the perfect canvas for our spray painting process. This involved protecting the surrounding windows and house exterior with masking paper and film and the application of two coats of premium quality professional paint.
The result was a job that was completed in just 4 days but to an extremely high level of quality. The paintwork is smooth and almost glass-like, while the wood is protected from the elements and the windows secured for many years to come.
