This grade II listed building overlooking the Great Ouse river was acquired by a building company as a complete renovation project.
The building needed extensive work inside and outside. Its sash windows were rotten throughout, had holes in timber, sills were nearly non-existent, glass was broken.
Due to the historic significance of the building, all the repairs we were to do on the windows had to comply with all the requirements of conservation officers.
We did all the sash windows repairs with Accoya and Tricoya timbers. Accoya and Tricoya are the world’s leading high technology wood. Created from sustainably sourced softwood; it matches or exceeds the durability, stability and beauty of the very best tropical hardwoods. They are guaranteed to last at least 20 years untreated in the ground.
These timbers do not absorb water, resist weathering and pests. When protected with hi-tec paint, these timbers will easily last for 50 years, something no other timber can come close to.
The client was not interested in slim double glazing, so we replaced all cracked glass with single glazing. Our work was checked and approved by conservation officers. Moreover, they passed the property on their way to work on a daily basis and observed our team’s work.
Like with all our sash window restoration projects, this one is guaranteed for 20 years. The paintwork is guaranteed to last for 8-10 years, meaning the new owners will not have to worry about repainting their windows every three years (something every house owner dreads).
All the exterior sash windows and doors were spray painted. The woodwork was carefully restored to its former glory without any unnecessary alterations. The client was very pleased with the work and the end results. We loved this project as it gave us an opportunity to work with great people, restore badly rotten sash windows back to their glory and particularly we loved an opportunity to work with bow sash windows.

A ten-year guarantee is offered for the paintwork and a twenty-year guarantee on repairs.
